Junior fullback Broderick Cole was named to the Sports Network's 2006 Preseason All-American Second Team, announced Matt Dougherty, Executive Director of I-AA Football.

Named the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year in 2004, Cole enjoyed another banner season in 2005, helping lead the Colonels to their first-ever conference championship.

Cole, a New Orleans native, finished his sophomore season as the team's second leading rusher, rushing for 717 yards on 156 attempts, for an average of 71.7 yards per game. His 13 rushing touchdowns on the season set a school record and helped him garner First Team All-Southland Conference and Second-Team All-Louisiana honors.

Nicholls was recently ranked preseason No. 22 by AnyGivenSaturday.com. The Colonels open its 2006 campaign on Thursday, August 31 against Southern Arkansas at John L. Guidry Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
