Nicholls junior right-handed pitcher Rudy Darrow was selected Wednesday by the Detroit Tigers in the 32nd round of the 2006 Major League Baseball first-year player.
Darrow, a Perkins, Okla. native, recorded a team-high six saves in 20 relief appearances for the Colonels this season. Darrow (1-3) finished with a 4.43 ERA, allowing 10 earned runs in 20.1 inning worked. He surrendered 20 hits and 14 walks, while striking out 20.
Nicholls also had a signee for the 2007 season selected in the draft. Right-handed pitcher Steven Cheyney was selected in the 25th round by the New York Mets. Cheyney played last season at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Fla.
