Head soccer coach Cindy Piper announced the signing of three in-state standouts Wednesday.

Alicia Gautreau and sisters Tara and Kelly Walsh will join Caitlyn Donegan, Laura "Michelle" Branscome and Jenice Geare.

Donegan, Branscome and Geare signed in February.

Gautreau comes to Nicholls from East Ascension High School in Gonzales.

She was a four-year letter winner under coach Chris Goodall. The two-year captain who plays forward ended her senior season with numerous accolades that included being named first team All-District, District MVP, All-Parish MVP, first team All-Metro and first team All-State.

"Alicia is going to be a great addition to our university as well as our program," Piper said. "She is a talented player who can fill many voids on our team. She has a soft touch on the ball and can beat defenders with her speed. I look for her to make a difference in our program."

Sisters Tara and Kelly hail from Keithville, La., and attended Caddo Magnet High School.

Tara arrives at Nicholls from Caddo Magnet, while Kelly is a transfer from Bossier City Community College.

"I am excited Tara has decided to attend Nicholls State. She is a strong defender, who likes to go forward. I look for Tara to help create chances on goal, as well as preventing them.

"Kelly is a transfer for Bossier City, and I am happy she has decided to join her sister here at Nicholls. I look for Kelly to help with the scoring aspect of our game. She has a great shot on goal and has the ability to help create chances for others. I expect good things from her," Piper added.
