*NICHOLLS TO HOST SCIENCE ADVENTURES YOUTH CAMP

The Nicholls State University Office of Camps and Conferences is opening a third session of its popular Science Adventures Camp – Gizmos, Gadgets and Goop for children entering kindergarten through sixth grades. The new session will be held Monday, June 25, to Friday, June 29, from 8 a.m. to noon in the Century Room of John L. Guidry Stadium at Nicholls. The camp mixes imagination and science to explore electricity, make ice cream without a freezer and put the glow into a giant glob of glow slime. Campers will be grouped according to age. The cost is $109 for the session, which includes science kits, take-home materials and instruction. *NICHOLLS PLANS SUMMER KARATE CAMP

Keep your children active this summer with a camp that also teaches discipline. Karate Kamp at Nicholls State University is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to noon July 30 to Aug. 3 in Stopher Gymnasium. This weeklong camp will give children the chance to learn Karate skills, build self-confidence and learn self-defense techniques and the importance of respect. Daily games and activities will promote coordination and flexibility. The camp will conclude with a special awards presentation that also includes a skills demonstration by campers. Karate Kamp is open to children ages 6 to 14 years. The registration fee is $69, which includes a camp T-shirt. Space is limited; early registration is recommended.
