What a great way for Terrebonne Parish Library System (TPLS) to welcome the New Year! On January 22, 2007, it will launch an exciting free service - its digital media collection. Library Director Mary Cosper LeBoeuf is excited at the prospect of patrons being able to explore TPLS' growing digital collection of fiction, non-fiction, music and video titles.
This easy to use service is powered by Overdrive, Inc., the library’s latest digital partner who is a leading provider for this technology. From anywhere in the world, its patrons with a Terrebonne Parish Knowledge Card can log on to the library’s web page (www. terrebonne.lib.la.us). A media catalog link will be supplied for convenient browsing of popular audio books, ebooks, music and videos.
These titles will encompass many genres including romance, mystery, science fiction, biographies, foreign language instruction and more. The Overdrive Media Console (free) will be required to enjoy audio, music and video selections while ebook titles require Adobe Reader or MobiPocket Reader. Once the free software is installed, your selection can be checked out and downloaded to a computer which can then be transferred to an assortment of supported electronic devices, such as an MP3 player. Computer Services Administrator for TPLS, Wanda Bruchis, enjoys the convenience of burning selected titles to CD's for listening on the go. The cutting edge technology supported by OverDrive, Inc. allows automatic check in without having to worry about late fees or lost items. Imagine an offshore worker or college student away from home being able to enjoy the latest John Grisham or graphic novel. Available 24/7, your library is always open! Join us as our dynamic parish library system expands its latest outreach efforts to its community!
