The seventh annual Franklin Harvest Moon Fest will be held Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Festivities will take place along Franklin’s Main Street in the downtown historic district. There is no admission fee.
Harvest Moon Fest is a community-based downtown street festival celebrating the sugar cane harvest and the return of fall. Events for this year’s festival include live entertainment, children’s activities, arts & crafts, a 5k Run/Walk, an Antique, Hot-Rod, Classic Car & Motorcycle Show, trolley rides, food and more.
As part of the festival, Franklin Downtown Retail Merchants will provide extended store hours along with special sales and promotions to open the Christmas shopping season. Concession booths with local foods and crafts will line the downtown area around the music stage and a trolley will be available for free rides through Franklin’s historic district.
Children’s games and activities will be open to all children ages 12 & under and will include a space walk, ring & bean bag tossing booths, a go fish booth, puppet shows, face painting, a bike raffle and more.
Teche Action Clinic will host its sixth annual 5K Fun Run/Walk beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday, October 28th at the Courthouse Square. Entry fees for the race are $15.00 by October 23rd, $18.00 after October 23rd, $10.00 for Senior Citizens (includes t-shirt), $10.00 for no t-shirt entry and $5.00 for school teams (per student/ no t-shirt). Late registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. at the Courthouse Square on the day of the race. The Antique, Hot-Rod, Classic Car & Motorcycle Show will also take place on Main Street. Pre-registration for participants is $15.00 for those who register before October 28th and regular registration is $20.00. Registration fees include lunch at Polito’s Café, located at 710 Main Street. Awards will be presented to the top 50 vehicles, Best of Show, Longest Distance, and Club Participation. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day.
