NSU Offers Summer Youth Camps

 

Nicholls State University is offering numerous youth activities over the summer months. They include:

Academic Enrichment Program (youth entering kindergarten through sixth grades)

June 5 to July 14 (Monday through Friday), 8:30 to 11:50 a.m.

Cost: $175

 

Art Classes

Session I: ages 6 to 8, June 19 to 23, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Session II: ages 9 to 12, June 19 to 23, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Session III: ages 9 to 12, June 26 to 30, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Session IV: ages 6 to 8, June 26 to 30, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Cost: $85 per session (registration deadline two weeks prior to first day of camp)

 

Chip Durham Baseball Day Camp (boys entering kindergarten through ninth grades)

June 8, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: $100 (includes daily lunch and T-shirt)

 

J.P. Piper’s Boys Basketball Day Camp (boys ages entering second through eighth grades)

June 5 to 8, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cost: $140 (includes T-shirt and ball)

 

Mark Cook’s Girls FUN-damentals Basketball Day Camp (girls entering second through fifth grades)

June 12 to 15, 9 a.m. to noon

Cost: $110 (includes camp T-shirt)

 

Mark Cook’s Girls Basketball Skills Overnight Camp (girls entering fifth through 11th grades)

June 19 to 21

Cost: $125 (includes overnight accommodations and camp T-shirt)

 

Cardio Kids (ages 6 to 10)

Date TBA, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Fee: $40

 

Chamber Music Camps

Woodwind Day Camp

June 19 to 23, 9 a.m. to noon

Fee: $150, or $180 with the inclusion of a one-hour private lesson (Room and board is available for an additional fee.)

 

Brass Day Camp

June 19 to 23, 1 to 3 p.m.

Fee: $150, or $180 with the inclusion of a one-hour private lesson (Room and board is available for an additional fee.)

 

Nicholls Cheerleader Camp (ages 4 to 13)

July 31 to Aug. 2, 8 a.m. to noon

Fee: $55 (includes camp T-shirt)

 

Colonel Camper (youth entering kindergarten through sixth grades)

June 5 to July 14 (Monday through Friday), 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: $575 (includes two camp T-shirts)

This camp combines Academic Enrichment Program, Lunch Option and Sports and Activities Camp.

 

Colonel in Training Junior Counselor Program (ages 13 and up)

June 5 to July 14, 1 to 5 p.m.

Cost: $99

 

Creative Learner Program (youth entering sixth through 12th grades)

June 12 to 30, 7:30 a.m. to noon

Cost: $25 non-refundable application fee and $215 tuition due by June 1

 

Creative Scholars Dyslexia Camp

Session I: youth entering fifth and sixth grades, July 17 to 21

Session II: youth entering seventh through ninth grades, July 24 to 28

Cost: $25 non-refundable application fee due by July 1, $200 camp fee due by July 10 upon acceptance

 

Embracing Leadership Program (girls ages 14 to 18)

July 31 to Aug. 2; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cost: $99

 

Karate Kamp (ages 4 to 12)

July 24 to 28, 9 a.m. to noon

Cost: $69 (includes camp T-shirt)

 

Performing Arts Camp

June 1 to 22, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: $260 (includes daily lunch)

 

Ready! Set! Dance! (girls ages 4 to 14)

July 17 to 21 and July 24 to 28, 9 a.m. to noon

Cost: $124 (includes costume and camp T-shirt)

 

Science Adventures Camp – Physics Grand Prix (youth entering kindergarten through sixth grades)

July 17 to 21, 1 to 5 p.m.

Fee: $99 (includes science kits and take-home materials)

 

Science Adventures Camp – Space and Rocketry (youth entering kindergarten through sixth grades)

July 24 to 28, 1 to 5 p.m.

Fee: $99 (includes science kits and take-home materials)

 

Sports and Activities Camp (ages 5 to 12)

Session I: June 5 to 9

Session II: June 12 to 16

Session III: June 19 to 23

Session IV: June 26 to 30

Session V: July 5 to 7

Session VI: July 10 to 14

All sessions meet from 1 to 5 p.m.

Cost: $60 per session for I, II, III, IV and VI, $36 for Session V (includes field trips, snacks and camp T-shirt)

 

Sports and Activities Last Chance Camp (ages 5 to 12)

Session VII: July 17 to 21, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Session VII: July 24 to 28, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: $125 (includes field trips, snacks and camp T-shirt)

 

Boys and Girls Soccer Day Camp (boys ages 5 to 12 and girls ages 5 to 18)

June 5 to 7, 9 a.m. to noon

Cost: $65 (includes camp T-shirt)

 

Girls Soccer Overnight Camp (girls ages 14 to 18)

June 1 to 4

Cost: $220 (includes overnight accommodations and camp T-shirt)

 

Star Power Theater Camp (ages 5 to 21)

Practices: 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, June 7 to July 19

Dress rehearsal: 4 p.m. on Friday, July 21

Performances: 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 22 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 23

Cost: $40

 

Summer Options Program

Designed to accommodate childcare needed before and after the Academic Enrichment Program and before Sports and Activities Camps.

Session I: June 5 to 9

Session II: June 12 to 16

Session III: June 19 to 23

Session IV: June 26 to 30

Session V: July 5 to 7

Session VI: July 10 to 14

Early Drop-Off Program: includes breakfast, activities and escort to camp, 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.

Cost: $15 per session

Lunch Program: includes escort from camp, lunch, activities and escort to afternoon camp, 11:50 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cost: $30 per session

 

Swimming Lessons (ages 5 to 16)

Semi-private lessons of 35 minutes limited to three children per section. Swim tests will be administered to determine skill level.

Swim Test Dates: June 1, 15 and 29

Cost: $125 per session (includes test day and six lessons)

 

Television Workshop (ages 8 to 16)

July 31 to Aug. 4, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost: $180 (includes daily lunch)

 

Girls Volleyball All Skills Clinic (girls ages 13 to 18)

June 28 to 30

Class meets 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 28 and 29; 9 a.m. to noon on June 30

Cost: $85 per session (includes daily lunch and camp T-shirt)
