The Houma Regional Arts Council will hold its 3rd annual fundraiser, Hearts for Arts, an event to raise money to support the programs and operations of the Arts Council.
“The arts are a vital part of this area. Keeping them alive is an issue now more than ever. We are partially supported by money from the LA Division of the Arts and our local government but we need community support as well,” says Glenda Toups of the Arts Council. “We are a non-profit organization committed to promoting and providing cultural activities, through a partnership of public and private funding, which meets the needs of our individual communities.”
The Arts Council’s programming includes: ArtSense, an annual summer visual arts camp for children; the College Inn Reunion Concert; weekly Cajun music sessions held at the Bayou Terrebonne Waterlife Museum; visual artist exhibits; artist’s services & resources; the Terrebonne Parish Arts Funding Program; and the Louisiana Decentralized Arts Funding Program. The Arts Council’s two arts funding programs support art activities for the general public in Terrebonne Parish and the region including Assumption, Lafourche, St. John the Baptist, St. James and St. Charles Parishes.
Hearts for Arts will be from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 at The Main Affair, 7879 Main Street Houma, Louisiana. Tickets are $50.00 per person and include food and open premium bar being provided by Castalano’s and The Main Affair.
