The St. Louis Catholic Church bible school staff chose to implement service this year with the
Vacation Bible School children to try and teach them that all of us are called to serve no matter how old or young we may be. Each day an activity was created in recognition of service that others do for us or to cheer up those who are elderly or homebound. The children created all activities planned for the week.
The nurses at Terrebonne General Medical Center were recognized for there service with painted flowerpot and flowers made out of ink pens. The children visited different departments and delivered these pots to our nurses and several nurse directors were there to greet the children upon arriving to TGMC.
“Our nursing staff was very excited to receive the personally crafted flowerpots that the St. Louis Catholic Church bible school children created for us. They were beautiful and were used to decorate and bring cheer to our nurses' stations. Even more importantly, every instance in which our youth is exposed in a positive manner to healthcare is a plus during an era in which severe healthcare worker shortages exist. The future of healthcare is in the hands of our children. We need to be proactive in engaging and encouraging our children to be interested in a healthcare career”, stated Teresita McNabb, TGMC Vice-President of Nursing Services.
