It’s never too late to start your college career at Nicholls State University. New students ages 25 and older and all former students who attended Nicholls prior to fall 2005 are exempt from the university’s new admission requirements.
“Adult students comprise one of our fastest-growing groups of students,” Courtney Cassard, director of enrollment services, said. “Earning a college degree as an adult has never been easier. Financial aid is available for many students and classes are available to fit a variety of schedules and formats, including evenings and online classes.”
Students over the age of 25 will be admitted to Nicholls as long as they have proof of high school graduation or GED. Once accepted, adult learners need only take either the ACT test or the Compass test to determine their placement. The tests are not used to determine admission, rather they are used to place students in the appropriate levels of mathematics and English classes.
Once adult students have applied and been accepted to the university and taken a placement test, they will be invited to attend orientation to learn about the university’s academic programs, be advised by faculty and register for classes.
Students who enroll for the fall 2006 and spring 2007 semesters may be eligible, depending upon financial need, for grants of up to $1,000 through the Rebuild Louisiana Student Assistance Program if they have permanent residence in a parish impacted by Hurricanes Katrina or Rita (Lafourche, Terrebonne, Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John, St. Tammany, Washington, Vermilion, Cameron and Calcasieu parishes).
