Nicholls State University recently accepted $10,000 from the American Association of Drilling Engineers in support of the seven-days-on and seven-days-off petroleum services program, announced Dr. David Boudreaux, vice president for institutional advancement at Nicholls.
“The donation was given to the petroleum services program because it is a unique program that represents the oil industry of the Bayou Region,” Johnson Hale, director emeritus of the AADE board, said.
The petroleum services program will use the $10,000 to purchase multi-media equipment and to help with faculty development.
The AADE has supported the petroleum services program for more than a decade, donating more than $250,000 to the program. Hale said he supports the program because it allows working individuals in the oil industry to get a university education and advance within the industry.
“We at the university appreciate the interest and support that the AADE has shown the petroleum services program over the course of 15 years,” Boudreaux said.
Individuals or organizations interested in a donation to benefit Nicholls State University students or faculty should contact the Office of Development at (985) 448-4010.
