Houma Civic Center Hires Familiar Face
Houma Civic Center Hires Familiar Face

The Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center announces the arrival of a familiar face to its staff.  Lori lori.jpgToups, formerly Lori Domingue, was hired as Marketing Coordinator for the Civic Center last week.  The Houma native was previously the main News Anchor and Reporter for the local TV station, HTV, since October 2003.  In that role, Toups was responsible for gathering, reporting, writing, producing, and broadcasting the daily newscasts to viewers in a four-parish area.

Since graduating from Nicholls State University with a Mass Communications degree in 1999, Toups has primarily worked in television news.  Before returning to Houma, she worked as a News Producer at ABC affiliates, KAIT-TV in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and WGNO ABC 26 in New Orleans.

Toups says her new role as Marketing Coordinator brings her a pleasant change. “I’ve always loved television, and I’m grateful for the opportunity I’ve had so far, to see first-hand how television and the news business works.  Though, everyone gets to a point in his or her life where they need a change, and I’m at that point.  I want to experience new challenges, and I foresee the Civic Center giving me that and more.”

As Marketing Coordinator, Toups will provide support to the facility’s Marketing Manager, Tammy Usie.  Together, they are responsible for promoting the facility’s events and rental space through sales, media and public relations, and internal production of marketing materials and campaigns.

David Ohlmeyer, Director of the Civic Center, says, “Ms. Toups will become a valuable member of the staff and will enable the Marketing Department to expand its sales efforts.  Ohlmeyer believes the Civic Center must expand its client base to include events that will result in additional hotel room nights and monies spent at our local restaurants and other local attractions.  “Our mission is to continually increase the economic impact of this facility to Terrebonne Parish, and Ms. Toups is a great addition to help us make that happen.”

Toups said, “I love what the facility has to offer now, and I look forward to working with the current staff to make the Civic Center even better.”
