CIS was one of the first in the U.S. to offer this new technology and is one of the most experienced groups in the nation in its use. TAMS is a leader in the development of the 64-slice CT and is the manufacturer of the Aquilion equipment used by CIS. This combination of expertise makes an ideal partnership for this educational endeavor.
To emphasize the importance of spreading the word about the use of 64-slice CT in the practice of cardiovascular medicine, Dr. Craig Walker, founder, president and medical director of CIS, noted, "This new technology has changed the way we practice medicine and we feel an obligation to educate our colleagues on its many applications."
Dr. Peter Fail, CT medical director for CIS, agrees, "As a leading cardiovascular center, it is our responsibility to bring the latest medical technology to the patients of Louisiana. However, the technology is only the beginning. We must also ensure that it’s being used correctly and to its fullest capabilities, and that’s where we feel this course will have the largest benefit-for both our clinicians and patients."
CIS has consistently maintained that through education a broader public is reached, and many more lives are impacted positively. This course is the latest means of achieving the CIS educational mission.
The two and one-half day course offers continuing medical education credit and is designed specifically for users new to the field of cardiovascular CT. The instruction will begin in mid-February and will be held in Houma, La. at the corporate headquarters of CIS.
