Dr. Sandeep Patel receives nuclear certification

Cardiovascular Institute of the South announces that Dr. Sandeep Patel, staff cardiologist at the institute’s Thibodaux location, is now entitled to designate himself as "Diplomate of the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology." Dr. Patel has successfully completed the examination given by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC), a not-for-profit corporation established to develop and administer practice-related examinations in the field of Nuclear Cardiology.

Nuclear studies are used in cardiology to check blood flow to the muscles or walls of the heart and can detect the presence of coronary artery disease (CAD). Dr. Patel’s certification in this field further broadens his knowledge of the latest diagnostic studies that can be used to combat CAD.

Dr. Patel is also certified in both internal medicine and interventional cardiology, and is a Diplomate in Cardiovascular Disease. He has been practicing cardiology at CIS’s Thibodaux clinic since 1995.
